Summary

The Free Republic of Cascadia was founded on July 20, 2025, in the wake of the Second American Civil War and the dissolution of the former United States of America after the contested Presidential Election of 2024, the destruction of Washington, D.C. in a nuclear terrorist attack, and the 2025 crash of the global economy resulting in the Greater Depression.

Primary movers of the formation of the nation included Benyamin David Cohen, Sharon Elizabeth Walker-Nilssen and other prominent members of the Human Sovereignty Movement.

After winning a series of major battles in the war, including the Battle of Blewitt Pass, the Spokane Offensive, and the decisive Eastern Push, the newly formed nation traded land for peace in the Jackson Hole Accords, securing the full Cascadian watershed as the political boundaries of the country. Later land acquisitions included the former Alaskan Panhandle in the Panhandle Annexation of 2027, and the Accession of Yukon State.

Cascadia, Alaska Free State, and Kalaallit Nunnaat are the only North American nations not currently (00204110270153221) engaged in border disputes with the North American Border Reconcilliation Commission.
